Undeb Credyd y Barcud Coch Cyfyngedig, trading as Red Kite Savings and Loans and as Red Kite Credit Union (RKCU) is a credit union Authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority, similarly to high street banks and building societies and many other types of financial services companies.
Each credit union is a separate company and a separate member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) that protects members' savings up to the current limit of the scheme, £85,000 at March 2017.
If you live in or have a place of employment in Powys, you are eligible to join Red Kite Savings and Loans. Full membership is available to any person 16 years and over. A Young Savers Club is available for younger persons.

Red Kite Credit Union Service Points and facilities during COVID restrictions
With the easing of Covid restrictions in Wales the Credit Union is delighted to be able to reopen our service points.
There are changes and additions to some places and opening times and details are given here We are very pleased to be able to open a new Service Point in Knighton. The Credit Union continues also to operate using phone and electronic communucations and providing our usual services as far as possible in these circumstances. Any necessary face-to-face interaction will be very restricted and social distancing will be enforced.

Our School Savings Banks at Trefonnen, Llanbister, Llanelwedd and Dolau Primary Schools have also in general been Closed during the Lockdowns, as well as any Adult member services at the schools.
We hope to be able to re-open the school savings banks in due course now the lockdown restrictions have been eased, probably on a selective basis. Hadau Onnen - Trefonnen Piggy Bankers school bank has already reopened and we hope others will follow soon. The school banks are operated by school staff and pupils and reopening is at the discretion of the head teacher. Meanwhile, if withdrawal of school bank savings is required, please contact the credit union on 01597 824000 where a message can be left. Please make other enquiries to the school.
